What is Live Scan?

Live Scan is a process where the applicant's fingerprints are scanned electronically, rather than using ink and cards, and transmitted to the Department of Justice and FBI for processing.


Fees

Foothill College currently charges a $25.00 fingerprint rolling fee. This fee is reduced to $20 for current students and employees of the Foothill-De Anza College District, with proof of identification and enrollment/employment. Additional processing fees are currently as follows:

California Department of Justice: $32
Federal Bureau of Investigation: $17
Child Abuse Index Check: $25
Firearms Check: $15

In order to get Live Scan, it is necessary to have all of the following:

  • Web LiveScan form - For on campus employment ONLY.  All others must bring a copy of the Request for LiveScan provided by their employer.
  • Credit/Debit Card or check preferred to cover the fees. Visa or Mastercard only.
  • Valid photo identification, such as a Driver's License, Identification Card, or passport;
  • Applicants completing Live Scan to meet Foothill-De Anza District requirements must also provide their Social Security Number for successful processing;


Hours

Both Foothill & De Anza College locations are currently open Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 10:00pm by appointment only.

Campus Employment: To schedule an appointment, please complete the Web LiveScan from above and include which location, date and time you wish to have your appointment scheduled.  A member of our department will then contact you via email to schedule the appointment date/time.

Location

Our Live Scan facilities are located on both Foothill and De Anza College Campuses, in the Police Department is on the lower level of the Campus Center on both campuses.

Directions to the Foothill Police Station:

1- Take Highway 280 North from San Jose or 280 South from San Francisco;
2- Exit on El Monte Road;
3- Exit westbound;
4- Follow El Monte Road to Foothill College;
5- Veer right at the traffic light;
6- Keep in the left lane, and follow the one-way loop road that leads to the right around the campus;
7- Live Scan clients may park in the free 30-minute parking spaces located in the front of the Campus Center building;

*** These parking spaces are below the footbridge bus stop. If you realize you have passed the footbridge, you can proceed around the loop and use the fountain roundabout to get back to where you need to be.***

Directions to the De Anza Police Station:

1- Take Highway 85 to the Stevens Creek Exit
2- Travel East on Stevens Creek to Mary Avenue;
4- Turn right on Mary Ave into De Anza College
5- Follow the road to the left and make a right into parking lot A1.  Park in visitor parking spaces.
6- Walk all the way through the Registration & Student Services building.  
7- Keep walking forward and there will be a ramp on the right.  Police Department is the first door at the bottom of the ramp.
